The Maui Flow

How do I describe the lifestyle on Maui? Like the ocean, it flows and breathes and changes. The stress is minimal because life seems to just work out here with hardly any stress on meticulously planning your future. If you put any wants, needs or desires into the universe, it comes to you in all different forms. The day to day lifestyle is more go with the flow and not roll with the punches. It gives me a lot of time to create my art, and when I'm by the ocean the influence pours out of me.

As you can see here, there is a lot of beach influence on the the jewelry my sister and I make. The necklace above has a puka shell found here in Hana, Maui at Hamoa beach and the Jobes tear is the seed of a native plant that grows on the river banks of the natural rain water rivers here. The turquoise helps the energy flow through the necklace in to the body and amber is all natural tree sap. This necklace brings the ocean and land together as one.

On days like today when things are going south and plans are being broken, instead of rolling the the punches I redirect the energy in to a more positive, healthy outlook on the situation. Looking on the bright side is something you're forced to do when you're always in paradise. I pick up a papaya that fell on the ground, ripe and perfectly placed for me to eat, and remember how easy life can be. The bruises and scratches stop hurting as soon as I look at the coconut palms and Caribbean blue ocean in front of me. The energy on Maui flows through every living thing around, giving anything to anyone who is open to the flow. When you visualize anything you want, Maui's got your back and usually brings you something better than you asked for. I am so lucky to have this island as an influence on my art and am so grateful to be able to share it with the world!
